Every month a new TechBox arrives with a build-it-yourself STEM project! Each TechBox arrives with all of the required parts and step-by-step guides to create and customize your innovative and stimulating project.
Each of our subscription plans delivers one box per month, giving the perfect amount of time for exploration and enjoyment of the concepts that each project presents. Purchasing a semiannual subscription includes 6 boxes, arriving 1 per month.
Not at this moment. We purposefully design the sequencing of the TechBoxes to build upon one another while optimizing learning and fun. We carefully choose the underlying lessons presented in each TechBox to craft a foundation of electronics and programming knowledge that future projects expand upon.
No, each monthly TechBox is different and we will not send the same box twice to a subscription. You are able to view the TechBoxes received on your account dashboard. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at support@tech-box.io.
For now, we only have one line of TechBox subscriptions designed for children, teens, and young adults ages 12+. We plan to offer more subscriptions and products in the future, so please visit our website and watch our social media for updates. Or you can join our mailing list at info@tech-box.io.
Your first TechBox order will be fulfilled about 1 to 3 business days after the order is placed. You can expect shipping to take 4 to 7 business days within the United States.

Many things! Of course, coffee and tea are important motivators, but seriously though, it is the value we have for education and knowledge. We passionately believe that, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” ~ Malcom X. With this belief, we want to provide the inspiration, education, and resources to the engineers, software developers, and entrepreneurs of tomorrow with our educational projects and better equip them for the future that they will create.
We find that the best ideas often come from the collaboration of many different people. So when brainstorming new ideas for upcoming projects, the TechBox crew concepts MANY different possibilities that target important lessons surrounding the fundamentals of electronics, programming, and engineering. Then, only the BEST ideas make it to the prototyping stage where each idea is refined and experimented with. Finally, once the prototypes are even more amazing than we imagined, the coolest and most engaging ideas are officially turned into upcoming projects that will arrive in your TechBox subscription soon.
Our goal is to make the assembly slightly challenging, similar to how a good puzzle or engaging lesson can be challenging, but with step-by-step video guides that keep you on the right track. We test thoroughly with kids ages 12+ to make sure that each project is a fun and interesting experience. Our goal is that with the help of our step-by-step video guides, our written explanations, and a little exploration, a 12 year old will be able to complete each project successfully and independently.
Ages 12+ will have the best experiences with our projects. We have seen middle school students and college students both delight at the hands-on learning experience they aren’t getting in school. Parents and guardians should use their own discretion for whom they purchase, but we have worked diligently to ensure safe and engaging fun for anyone interested in technology ages 12 years and older. Of course, each project contains small parts which can be choking hazards, so appropriate precautions should be taken.
When used correctly, each TechBox is entirely safe. All projects use low voltage electricity (like you might see with three AA batteries) which is used throughout the educational and hobbyist electronics industry. Of course, project components should not be consumed or misused in any way for safety reasons.
Every TechBox project can be completed without the use of a computer. However, if you want to explore the programming section or customize the project in any way, a computer IS required.
TechBox supports all MacOS and Windows 11 devices.
The contents of each TechBox is different depending on the project, but the main things in each box are:
- A microcontroller, which is like a small pocket-sized
computer (and is also Arduino compatible) - Various electronic components
- Sustainable wooden housing components
- Access to online step-by-step video guides
No experience is necessary! You can start as a complete beginner and have no problem finishing (and understanding) each project.
No! Everything needed to create each project is entirely contained within each TechBox and all parts snap-fit together with our toolless design. You will need an internet connection and device to access the step-by-step video guides and a computer if you want to complete the programming section of each project (each project is pre-programmed in case you wish to skip the programming section).
If something IS missing from your TechBox, we will send you a replacement at no extra charge. You can check for missing parts by looking at the first page of the video guide of each project, which shows all items that should be in the TechBox to complete the project. If any parts are missing, go to the “Contact Us” page (linked here), enter your information, select “Replacement Parts” as the subject, and tell us which part is missing in the message. If you have any other questions contact support@tech-box.io.
It depends! We make each project with 3 different sections to cover the assembly and programming with our goal being a build time of 1.5 - 2 hours. However, each project features a challenge at the end of their final section that is meant to engage kids and students indefinitely as they explore coding and engineering concepts.
All TechBox projects use the Arduino Language (C/C++), with a few select kits using additional languages such as HTML. No programming is required for any of the projects (all projects arrive pre-programmed), but for those interested in learning more, an in-depth programming section is included in each guide.

No matter what problem you are trying to troubleshoot, TechBox will work with you and go step by step through your project until it is completed.

Currently there is no option to purchase individual TechBoxes unless you are an educator wishing to purchase multiple of the same kit for your classroom or program. To receive our TechBox subscription projects, you will need to subscribe. We may offer other subscription lines or stand alone projects in the future, but not at this time.
TechBox projects are designed for one user, so we recommend a subscription for each person.
For a classroom setting, individual or paired groups work best with our projects.
Absolutely! Please visit our Educators page or contact our customer support team (support@tech-box.io) so that we can tailor the project package to fit your needs. Educators receive special pricing on bulk purchases, access to our special reusable housing materials (for repeated use between classes and semesters), and access to individual projects.
No, but the extras are designed to be for use with specific TechBox projects in the TechBox subscription line.
Yes! You can pause your subscription at any time for up to 3 months by accessing your account dashboard. You can also reverse a paused subscription at any time.
We want to do everything we can to ensure you have a great experience with TechBox. Please call or email us at support@tech-box.io to share your concerns. If you must cancel your upcoming projects:
- For “Monthly, Cancel Anytime” subscriptions, you can cancel after the first project ships. Visit your account dashboard and follow those steps to cancel your
subscription. If you cancel after you are billed for the next project, a product will still ship, but you will not be billed again thereafter. - Quarterly and Semi-annual subscriptions are not eligible for early cancellation. If you’re not satisfied, call or email us at support@tech-box.io.
For any subscription, if you do not wish to receive the next month's project, please turn off auto-renewal three days prior to your next billing date (as shown through your account dashboard). If your subscription is currently processing an order or shipment, you may not see the option to turn off auto-renewal until after the order is shipped.
Yes. At the end of each billing cycle (whether that is monthly, quarterly, or semiannually), your subscription will renew. However, you can change this at any time from your Account Dashboard once logged in.
For monthly subscriptions, you can pause or cancel your subscription. For quarterly or semiannual subscriptions, you can turn off “auto renew”. Contact us at support@tech-box.io if you have any questions or need assistance.
If you have received all available TechBoxes, your subscription will be automatically turned off and you will NOT be billed.
Yes! If you begin a monthly subscription plan and choose to cancel, you can reactivate at any time by purchasing a subscription again. Once reactivated, you will receive the next TechBox on your subscription plan and will NOT be shipped any duplicate projects.
No, we do not store any credit card (or other payment method) information at TechBox because we rely on third-party payment processors to handle transactions securely. All credit card (or other payment method) information submitted on our website is secure and submitted directly to our processor. We take security extremely seriously and we do not even temporarily store your credit card (or other payment method) information on our servers.
We currently accept payments on our website through Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Facebook / Meta Pay, PayPal, and Amazon Pay.
All states, territories, and countries in which TechBox has a physical presence (such as an office or warehouse) or in which TechBox reaches a sales threshold, will collect applicable sales tax from our customers. Your on-screen order totals may reflect an estimated tax amount and the true sales tax will be calculated and charged at the time your order is invoiced.
Monthly subscriptions will charge your card when each TechBox project ships. Quarterly and semiannual subscriptions will only be charged once at the beginning of the subscription period until the next period’s renewal date (3-months and 6-months later, respectively).
You can update your billing information anytime by accessing your account dashboard. If you need assistance, contact us at support@tech-box.io.
If you live at an address which is different from the recipient, we recommend buying them a gift card! This way, they will be their own account holder and can update or change their shipping address, pause the subscription, request replacement parts, and provide feedback on each project.
If you would still rather purchase their subscription yourself however, just enter their address under the shipping information, and their gifted TechBox projects will be delivered straight to their door instead.
You are purchasing a virtual gift card. This is a fantastic option if you would like to provide someone outside of your household with a TechBox experience. If you are in the same household as the recipient, and you wish to manage the subscription for them, it is probably best to subscribe here instead of purchasing the gift card.
We offer free shipping for TechBox subscriptions to anywhere in the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska, and Military (APO, FPO, DPO) addresses.
Shipping on bulk orders or extras is calculated based on the shipping address.

Have you moved or relocated? You can update your shipping address through your account dashboard.
You will receive email notifications once your TechBox is shipped each month. You will find tracking information in your account dashboard.
Subscription TechBoxes (and purchases made with a bulk discount) are not eligible for returns or refunds.
However, other store items can be returned for a full refund if the items are unused, undamaged, and purchased within 30 days. To initiate a return, email Support@tech-box.io. TechBox will inspect returned products upon receipt and issue refunds within 30 days to the original form of payment. Please note that all return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer, and return packages must be in the original packaging and include the following information: customer name, order number, and reason for return.
