Definition: WS2812 LED Matrix
The WS2812 LED Matrix is an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) based on the intelligent WS2812 LED design from Adafruit Industries which are integrated into a 5050 LED component package. These LEDs can be controlled in an array through the use of a single signal input and an addressing method, which greatly simplifies the coding required for their illumination. They are able to produce red, green, and blue light (RGB) individually, and can produce many other colors by varying the intensity of the red, green, and blue portions of the LED individually. This matrix can be used to display scrolling text, images, varying colorful patterns, constant light, and almost any other 8x8 design that you can imagine.
